Surprise a child every month with a Sharing Small Sock Subscription (Review)

Sharing Small is a Vancouver-based sock subscription service for kids!  Their socks feature two explorers engaging in a new adventure each month, and their subscribers (children aged 2-12) receive two pairs per month along with a fun letter, a color poster and a sticker each month. For every pair that is shipped, a pair is donated to a child in need.

My Review:

I recently had the chance to review a one month subscription of socks from Sharing Small.  I just had to let them know if my daughters sock size was small, medium, or large.  We received a lovely package with two pairs of socks,  a poster, and a sticker.  This months theme was parachuting and the back of the poster had a story about the Sharing Small Explorers parachuting adventure.

Both pairs of socks were the same.  It would be nice if they were different because my daughter likes to mismatch her socks but they are really cute.  They have little guys parachuting and the Sharing Small logo on them.  It appears the socks are all unisex so boys or girls can wear any of them.

The socks fit great and have washed up well.  They are made well and are made to last.  I would definitely recommend Sharing Small to anyone who has a child who loves to get surprises in the mail.  It is a fun subscription that they will use.  You can subscribe HERE.

Get 100 Bright Glow Sticks For a Great Price (Review)

The Super Glow is the best brand of glow sticks on the market. You will receive one tube of 100 luminescent light bracelets. Each tube contains 5 colors -- Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Pink.  It also contains 100 connectors so you can hook the ends together to make bracelets and necklaces.

Once they start glowing, The Super Glow brand glow bracelets will last you all night. They will glow super bright for 8 - 10 hours then they will start to fade out but may continue to emit some light for up to 36 hours.

My Review:
I recently had the chance to review a tube of Super Glow bracelets.  They were so easy to use.  It just took a simple crunch and they were lit.  Every one had a connector to make it into a bracelet or necklace.  I knew they would be a hit at Christmas time because kids love glow sticks!  I hosted my family Christmas party on Christmas Eve and hung some of the bracelets on my tree.  The kids could take them off and wear them if they wanted to.  I also hung them on my outside trees on Christmas Eve as ornaments.  They shined bright all night.  Unfortunately, my pictures wouldn't show up right.  The most unique way I saw these used was on New Year's Day.  I woke up at 6:30 a.m. to get a headache pill because we had a huge party the night before.  As I walked to the kitchen, there was a trail of glow sticks leading from the bathroom to the living room, where several people were still crashed.  My daughter had left a trail of glow sticks so everyone could find their way to the bathroom in the dark.  I thought it was a neat idea that was very helpful.  My guests told me later on that they were grateful for them.  I love how bright these sticks are and how long they last.  They are not like cheap glow sticks that only light up halfway.  I would definitely recommend these to anyone.  You can purchase them HERE on Amazon.

Excavate 3 Real Stones With The Gemstone Dig Kit (Review)

Any 6-12 year old will love this award-winning Gemstone Dig Kit  by Discover with Dr. Cool.  Excavate 3 real gemstone specimens with this incredible hands-on excavation kit. Buried within a gemstone-shaped digging brick, your treasure hunter will dig out a real amethyst crystal, a quartz crystal point and a tiger's eye specimen! This hands-on adventure science kit is a great way to start a rock and mineral collection and includes an excavation tool, brush, and magnifying glass. There’s also a wonderful full-color information guide (written by teachers) so that you can identify and learn about each gemstone. Plus there’s an activity booklet with 10 fun games, puzzles, and challenges to complete. This is a must-have gift for the rock hound or treasure hunter in your family!

My Review:

I recently had the chance to review a Gemstone Dig Kit.  I gave it to my eleven year old daughter, Savanna, who was thrilled to dig into it.  She has always had an interest in collecting rocks and is always looking for treasures so I knew this would be right up her alley.

The instructions were simple.  Use the tools to excavate three stones after you lay down newspaper.  She started chipping away at the large "gem" which was made of plaster of paris type of substance.  I see why they said to put newspaper down because it made a powdery mess all over.  She finally hit her first stone about halfway through.  After digging a little more, the second appeared.  The last one was harder to find since it was the smallest.  But, she finally found it.

After they were all rinsed off, we compared them to the photo on the kit.  The Quartz Crystal looked almost like the photo.  The Tiger's Eye was similar but the Amethyst was much smaller and lacked color.  I don't know if she broke it off somehow or if it was just like that.  She was happy with all of them anyways and thought they were all cool.

She read about all of the stones in the Adventure Guide and did several activities in the Activity Book.  She even asked for another one of these kits for Christmas!  It took her about an hour to dig out all of the stones so I think it is well worth the price of $11.99.  She really enjoyed it.  I would definitely recommend this kit to anyone who has a child that has an interest in rocks.  Discover with Dr. Cool has several other dig kits as well.  Check out the website or follow them on Facebook, or Twitter.

Store Loom Bands In the Rainbow Bandz Organization Box

The Rainbow Bandz Organization Box is a clear plastic organizer case for rainbow loom and rubber bands with adjustable compartments. It has plenty of room to fit the rainbow loom kit and other connectors.

Each compartment is 2 inches wide x 1.9 inches deep and is maximum 13 1/2 inches long.

My Review:

I recently had the chance to review a Rainbow Bandz Organization Box.  It is perfect for carrying loom bands on the go.  My daughter takes them everywhere and used to make a mess when she was carrying the plastic bags.  They were always spilling in the truck or wherever we went.  Now she can sort out her colors ahead of time and there is plenty of room to store clips and hooks.  The compartments can be adjusted to be even smaller if she wants to add some more colors.  The box is a great size for carrying and fits well on her lap.  I would definitely recommend this box to anyone who wants to store their loom bands.  Check out the Rainbow Bandz website.

Martial Arts for Kids Teaches Martial Arts Online (Review & Giveaway)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

The web's first Martial Arts for Kids MOOC (Massive Open Online Classroom) will teach children the fundamentals of Martial Arts.

Although the primary benefit of training in the system is self defense, children will also gain in other areas. Such as:

Respect- They will learn the protocols and meanings of these protocals. these are designed to teach respect for oneself and others.

Discipline- Our martial arts instruction is inspiring. Children will be inspired to work hard and will thereby naturally develop self discipline.

Physical Fitness - Classes are energetic. Kids will get lots of exercise.

Coordination - Shou' Shu' develops coordination. Especially due to that large amount of cross lateral motions. Cross lateral motions have been shown to enhance learning. Especially helpful for kids with ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia or similar.

Anti-Bullying - Kids will learn to understand how to prevent bullying as well as determining threat level and appropriate responses.

Fun - classes your child is sure to enjoy!

The program includes 13 lessons and a handbook.
Theve've been teaching the self defense art of Shou' Shu' Kung Fu professionally since 1995. They pioneered the teaching of children in this art. Having perfected the teaching system over the last 19 years, they are now bringing the experience online.  The scarcity of martial arts schools teaching a self defense art (in contrast to a sport karate) has prompted them to develop this online curriculum, making it available in the convenience of your home.

My Review:

I recently had the chance to review this program with my daughter, Savanna.  She is ten and a natural born fighter.  She has always wanted to learn martial arts and has acted like she knew karate with her brother.  The problem was there was no classes anywhere close to us and with their inexperience, someone was bound to get hurt.  When the opportunity came up to get her trained properly, I couldn't refuse!  She was so excited to get started.  The online classes are just a video but they they go over things several times so she can remember them.  She can go back and start over if she needs to and fast forward if she gets it quickly.  She has learned a lot and loves it!  I feel better knowing she trained to defend herself, not that she wasn't before, but even more so now.  She has a better attitude and more respectful.  I would definitely recommend Martial Arts for Kids to anyone who wants their kids to learn Martial Arts online.

Giveaway:

One lucky winner will receive a free online Martial Arts for Kids course.  To enter, just leave a comment below telling me what you would like your kids to learn from it the most.  The giveaway ends 5/20/14.  Thanks for entering & good luck!

Help Your Child Overcome Learning Difficulties With the Learning Success Program (Review)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Is your child having trouble in school?
The Learning Success Program is a simple do-at-home program that will show you how to find the core problems and overcome them. Learning is made up of basic core skills. There are 16 of them in all. Typical learning difficulties are small weaknesses in a combination of two or three of these skills. It helps overcome learning difficulties such as:
  • Dyslexia Dyscalculia Dysgraphia ADD/ADHD
Each of these terms simply means that there is a weakness in two or more of these basic learning skills. But it doesn't define which. Once you get started in the course you'll quickly find the trouble spots. Once you do that your child will be on the path to learning success. You will learn simple exercises that strengthen the skills needed for successful learning. Modern scientific breakthroughs have discovered a number of methods for overcoming these problems. Once you do your child will actually enjoy homework.

The normal price for this course is $564.

The course is delivered via email and you will receive emails each day with exercises you simply print out and do with your child. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes, 3-5 days per week. Results are typically seen starting at about 3 months but can come earlier. Severe problems will take approximately 1 year to overcome. Exercises will be delivered daily unless you cancel.

My Review:

I recently had the opportunity to review the Learning Success Program with my daughter.  She has trouble focusing on anything for more than a few minutes and is borderline ADHD.  I was willing to try anything to help make learning easier since she doesn't like to pay attention in school.  The first few exercises we did were fun for her and she actually wanted to do the same ones everyday.  As we continued on, she lost track and got bored with it.  Some of them were still fun but she didn't want to do some.  I keep printing them and some days we do several pages.  The downfall is it uses a lot of paper.  Some exercises require many pages of paper to be printed off so a dry erase marker and a clear sheet is definitely a must so you can reuse them.  I can't tell if it is helping her yet since we have only been doing it for a few weeks but I know it's not hurting her!  It says results can typically be seen at about three months so we'll see.  If you have a student who needs help learning, check out the Learning Success Program blog or follow them on Facebook or Twitter.

Go Loom Band Crazy With Rainbow Braid Bands (Review)

The Rainbow Braid Rubber Band Refill Pack is a set of 2400 brightly colored, strong, individually packaged rubber band refills for all loom kits. Rainbow Braid bands come in 12 different color variations of bold & fluorescent as well as 150 clips.  There are 200 each of the following colors - red, orange, light green, green, blue, light blue, purple, rose, pink, glow in the dark yellow, black, & white.  They were even designed with help from kids!  Satisfaction is guaranteed or Rainbow Braid will send your money back or a free replacement pack!

My Review:

I recently received a Rainbow Braid 2400 Piece Refill Pack to review.  My daughter has gone loom band crazy for the past several months and has made hundreds of these bracelets.  I even got started making them for awhile back around Christmas time when you couldn't even find the bands around here.  Everybody wanted bracelets so we started selling them online.  Now, I think every other little girl in the world is doing the same thing because they have hundreds too.  Everywhere I go I see kids with loom band bracelets on both wrists.  Even adults wear them!  It's a great hobby and actually fun for kids and adults to make them.  It can even be addicting...lol  There are so many different designs you can make and there are constantly new ones being invented.

Here's a few of the bracelets my daughter made with this kit...

The bands stretch very well and don't break easily.  They also don't have the stinky rubber band scent that the cheap bands have.  The colors are bold and bright.  The glow in the dark yellow really glows!  My daughter and I love working with these bands and would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a high quality loom band refill kit.  You can purchase the 2400 piece kit HERE for $13.90.  Check out the Rainbow Braid website for the 5400 piece set.

My Review:

I just signed my kids up with Thrively.  It was completely free to create an account and I could add both of my kids.  They each took a simple survey to determine their "strength" profile.  This basically determined what they were interested in.  The survey was fun but made them use their head as well.  After the survey was over, I could go back in and see a list of places to go and things to do that they may be interested in.  Many of the places are in our area and some are online activities.  I loved this because it pulled up places that I had never hears of that are not far away that they would love to visit.  It was perfect at finding my kids' interests.  I would definitely recommend Thrively to anyone who wants to find things to do with their children based on their strengths.

Color Your Hair Easily With Ellore Femme Hair Chalk (Review & Discount)

If you don't know what Hair Chalk is, then prepare yourself for amazingness! It's a super fun, temporary method to add some serious flair to your hair. These vibrantly colored hair-chalk sticks from Ellore Femme help you to easily paint rainbow hues onto strands. The easy-to-blend dyes are formulated with natural plant pigments, rendering the chalk non-toxic. All 24 colors easily wash out in the shower.

My Review:

I recently had the chance to review a set of Ellore Femme Hair Coloring Chalk.  My daughter was excited to try these because she always wants her hair all different colors.  She wants me to color her hair everyday to match her outfit.  This set pretty much covers any color she would need.

The set I received was slightly different than the one advertised but it was really close.  The main difference was my kit didn't have a purple hair chalk in it but my daughter hates the color purple so it's not a big deal.  I don't know if all the kits are like that or if it was just an error.

The instructions are easy:

1.  Wet your hair.
2.  Rub in your preferred color(s)
3.  Allow hair to air dry or use a straightening iron.

Here is Savanna with fuchsia streaks that air dried...

Here are light blue tips that were set with heat...

And here is the light blue about two hours later...

The color is very vivid and bright at first then starts to flake off throughout the day.  I have tried everything I can think of to make it last longer but it just fades out.  Maybe it's her hair because no similar products last very long either.  I don't want to say the product is bad because she loves the chalk and uses them everyday.  I like it because she can color her hair whatever color she wants then wash it out easily and start all over again.  I don't have to worry about her ruining her hair with bleach or hair dyes.  She is young and having fun experimenting with color!
I would recommend Ellore Femme Hair Coloring Chalk to anyone who wants to add color without making it permanent.  You can buy it HERE for $14.99 if you use the promo code BL15.  It's regularly $44.99!

Save Big on Kids Clothes at OshKosh B'gosh (Review & Coupon)

“I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for OshKosh B’gosh. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating.”

I recently had the opportunity to go shopping at OshKosh B'gosh to check out their spring line that is out right now.  My ten year old daughter, Savanna was excited to be my shopping partner for this.  She has always loved the store.  I love OshKosh because it is so easy to find the size of clothing I am looking for.  Everything is organized in order.  Since she is a size 12, it is always on the bottom of the pile or the back of the rack.  The store is laid out very nicely with girls on one side, and boys on the other.
When we got to the store, I told her we were going on a "spring clothes shopping spree" so she can go crazy!  She headed straight for the Girls Tunics & Leggings table.  They had a HUGE selection to choose from but she had to pick the brightest colors she could find.  Here are some things she decided on...

Hair Accessories ($2.09)
Jewelry Set ($2.09)

This is a super cute complete outfit and the accessories complete the look.

Even though the leggings are capris, she wanted to wear boots with these.  They still look cute for this time of year.

Denim Button-down Shirt ($14.40 w/ 20% discount coupon)
Pink Flutter Sleeve Top ($11.52 w/ 20% discount coupon)

The denim shirt can be worn as a long sleeve or the cuffs can be folded up for a 3/4 sleeve.

2-piece Zebra Print Tankini ($17.28 w/ 20% discount coupon)

This adorable swimsuit is perfect for little girls because it doesn't allow them to show too much skin.  She is going swimming on a class field trip in a few weeks so she will be styling in this gorgeous new suit!

She also got a 2-pack of Fashion Tights ($7.84 w/ 20% discount coupon) to wear with her spring dresses.

I used a 20% off $30 COUPON at the checkout.  Our grand total for everything (with tax) came to $99.25.  I also got a coupon for another $10 off my next shopping trip with my receipt.  The associates in the store were really helpful and nice.  They assisted us in picking out items that she might like.  It's hard to take her shopping and get this many items and end up spending less than a hundred dollars.  I think we got a pretty good deal because I know the quality of OshKosh clothing is great.  I would definitely recommend OshKosh B'gosh to anyone who has kids to do their spring clothes shopping right now while the spring line is out.  You can find the store nearest you HEREDon't forget to use the
20% off $30 COUPON.  It expires 3/12/14.

I recently had the opportunity to review an item of my choice from Doll Clothes Superstore.  My daughter, Savanna,  chose the Matching Blue Dress Set.  She chose the doll's dress to be for an American Girl doll although there are other doll choices.  I asked for her size to be a 14 even though she is currently a 12 because I think it will fit her better when summer comes.  It is still a little big but it is gorgeous!  She absolutely loves it and says it is very comfortable.  It is soft and silky material that is well made.  The doll's dress is identical and they both have a cute black bow in the front.

My daughter loves having matching outfits with her dolls.  This doll is one of her favorites because she looks kind of like her.  As you can tell by her hair, she's been drug around for awhile.  I can tell as soon as spring time comes around, Savanna and her doll will be showing off their dresses!

Overall, I would definitely recommend Doll Clothes Superstore to anyone who wants high quality doll clothes at a fraction of the price of name brand retailers.  Check out the website or follow them on Facebook or Twitter
