Keep Cut Fruit Fresh With the PRO FRESHionals Fruit Bowl, Review, Giveaway, & Grape Salad Recipe

Summer is here and it is time to make lots of dishes with fresh fruit.  But the fruit goes bad too quickly in a regular bowl if you don't eat it right away, right?  Not anymore!  Now there is a brand new product called the PRO FRESHionals Cut Fruit Bowl that keeps fruit fresh by separating it from it's juices.  It is a three piece bowl that is big enough to hold an entire watermelon!  It is exclusively available at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

I used this bowl to make my family's favorite recipe... Rockin Grape Salad.  It is always requested at family dinners and parties and is always a HUGE hit.

Rockin Grape Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

Approx. 6 pounds of seedless grapes (any variety)
16 oz. Cream Cheese (softened)
16 oz. Sour Cream
1 1/2 C. White Sugar
1/2 C. Brown Sugar
1 Can Pineapple Tidbits (drained of juice)
1 C. Chopped Pecans

Directions:

1.Wash grapes (I used the inside bowl as a colander for this step)
2. Blend cream cheese, sour cream, and sugars with mixer until smooth. (I used the outer bowl for this step)

3. Add pineapple and pecans.

4. Gently fold in the grapes.  You can add more or less, depending how much sweetness you like.  This stuff is amazing!

If I make too much at home, the pineapple juice makes it watery after a day or two so this bowl is perfect for this recipe.  The juice drains out and all the creamy stuff stays on the grapes!  I kept this fresh for four days before it was gone and the pineapple did not discolor or water it down.
This bowl is a lifesaver for fresh fruits and I can't wait to try it on all of my fruit dishes!  Look for it only at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

I received these five Good Cook items to try out and created one of my favorite comfort food recipes with a few of these products.  I whipped up a pot of my Ultimate Creamy Baked Potato Soup.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

10 (fist size) potatoes

1 quart half & half

3 c. milk

1/3 c. flour

1 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. garlic powder

1/8 tsp. pepper

1/8 tsp. Lawry's seasoned salt

Bacon bits or bacon pieces (optional)

  Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Poke potatoes all over and microwave for 14 minutes, turning over after 7 minutes.  While they are cooking, melt butter in large saucepan on medium heat.  Add flour and whisk in half & half, milk, and last 4 ingredients. Bring to boil.  Remove skins from potatoes and chunk them slightly with a fork.  Add to pot.  Soup will thicken as it cools.  Top with desired amount of bacon and cheese.  This recipe serves 8.
Here's a little more info about the items I received.  They make great items to add to your drawer!

SMART Ice Cream Scoop:  This scoop is heavy duty and works great!  No more fighting with hard ice cream.  I even used it to scoop the baked potatoes out of their skins!  It worked like a charm!

Flip Measuring Spoon:  This has a teaspoon and a tablespoon on it.  After you fill one end, just flip it over and push the other side to pop it out.  It doesn't leave anything behind!

Pot Clip Holder: This works great to prevent messes on the counter or stove.  It clips on the pan and you just leave your spoon right in the pot!

Safe-Cut Can Opener:  This is four can and bottle openers in one!  It has your basic twist and open can opener, a pop top opener, a grip-twist wrench, and a pull tab lifter.  They all work perfectly.  I can de-clutter my counter from my junk electric can opener now.

Egg Separator:  I get tired of breaking eggshells in half and flipping them back and forth to get the yolks separate from the whites.  With this product, I no longer have to worry about that.  It works perfectly and saves me the trouble.

The clock is ticking!  So keep an eye on it and be ready for when you can enter your drawer!  Check back soon to see what I have in my drawer!  Make sure you watch the
Good Cook Facebook page for updates and giveaways.

Bake Fun Gifts with the Sweet Creations Mini Loaf Pan (Review, Giveaway, Discount Code, & Recipe)

I recently received a Sweet Creations 4 Cup Mini Loaf Pan & 50 Sheets of White Snowflake Parchment Paper to review.  This pan is perfect for making small loaves of bread that are great for gift giving.  The parchment paper sets off your loaves with a pretty gift wrap.  You just have to tape it closed or add a pretty tie.

It was a tough decision on which bread to make first with my new pan.  I have so many recipes that I love!  I decided to try a new Cheddar Bread recipe that I have never made before but have been wanting to.  The recipe was the right size for the pan and made four perfect loaves.  The pan is nonstick but I sprayed in anyways.  The loaves popped right out and didn't leave a single piece behind.  I will definitely be using this pan for many recipes especially during the holidays.

Cheddar Bread Recipe

Ingredients:
3 1/2 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 T. butter/margarine
5 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
1 3/4 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Combine flour, salt, and baking soda.  Add butter with a pastry cutter or fork until it is coarse.  Add cheese.  Turn in buttermilk until it is just mixed in.  Divide evenly in between 4 pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
*I am going to add a little garlic powder to my next batch to give it a kick*

Since this was a practice run, I just stored them in the parchment paper.  They didn't last very long because everyone loved it.  My next batch will be prettier.

I would definitely recommend these products to anyone who loves to cook or wants great ideas for gifts.  You can purchase them from the Good Cook website or follow them on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest

Get the Freshest Chicken Breasts Possible with Zaycon Foods (Review)

Zaycon Foods are a privately owned company based in the state of Washington. The company was founded in 2009 to bring fresh meats and other products direct to consumers at wholesale prices. The founders have extensive experience in sales, business management and the grocery industry.

I was given the opportunity to try the exceptional service of Zaycon Foods.  They added a credit of a box of Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts to my account which was $73.60.  I just had to wait a couple months until they were in my area to pick them up.  I just pulled my truck around to their loading truck, gave them my name, and they loaded them in the truck for me.  I never had to get out.  That's service!
The box was 18x12x7" and weighed 40 pounds.  The chicken came directly from the farm and had never been frozen.  It has no hormones, additives, or artificial ingredients.  All you're getting is 100% natural, delicious chicken.
I must say it was worth the wait.  They are simply delicious!  They are the biggest, juiciest chicken breasts I have ever seen.
The first night, I made BBQ chicken breasts with mashed potatoes and corn.  A half of a breast was more than enough for each of us!  They are that big!  I had a lot left over so I made my favorite chicken dip recipe the next day.  Here is the recipe if you'd like to try it...

Chicken Sh*t Dip

1 pound of cooked chicken breast (I used BBQ but have used plain and even shake 'n baked before)
8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. mayonnaise
8 oz. package of shredded mild cheddar cheese
seasoned salt to taste
garlic powder to taste

Shred chicken. Mix everything up in a bowl and put in a casserole dish.  Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until sides start to brown.  Serve with Tostitos or crackers.  I guarantee you will have people begging for more if you make this dip!

Overall, I would highly recommend Zaycon Foods to anyone who wants fresh chicken breasts.  You can check out their website to see when they will be coming to your area.  You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Youtube.

My Cadbury 'High Tea' Ice Cream Party was awesome!

I was recently chosen to host a Cadbury 'High Tea' party with my daughter.  I thought it would be the perfect time since she was having a birthday party in the same time frame but we only got half of the party kit in time for her party.  We decided to have our party on one of our camping trips at a campground where a lot of her friends go.  The weekend was perfect because it was very hot.  After we rounded everyone up, we had all the girls choose a super cute hat that came in the party kit.  Thankfully, there was a nice color selection so there was no fighting.  They could match them up with what they were wearing and it all went smoothly.

Next, we poured "tea" in our tiny teacups that came in the kit.  I made my world famous punch for this (see recipe below).  Then we munched on tiny sandwiches and fruit cups.  Finally, I brought out what everyone was waiting for...the Cadbury Blue Bunny ice cream!  They sent us four boxes to try.  There was one box of each of the snack size Caramello, Vanilla Chocolate, English Toffee, & Royal Dark.  Of course all the girls wanted the Caramello first but then they tried the rest.  The moms just took what was left.  I also received coupons to share with the moms.

  • Cadbury® Royal Dark™: Creamy Blue Bunny reduced fat vanilla ice cream dipped in thick, rich Cadbury Royal Dark chocolaty coating
  • Cadbury® English Toffee: Creamy Blue Bunny reduced fat toffee ice cream dipped in thick, rich Cadbury milk chocolaty coating with toffee pieces
  • Cadbury® Caramello™: Creamy Blue Bunny Reduced fat vanilla ice cream swirled with caramel sauce all dipped in thick, rich Cadbury milk chocolaty coating
  • Cadbury® Vanilla Chocolate: Creamy Blue Bunny reduced fat vanilla ice cream dipped in thick, rich Cadbury milk chocolaty coating
After we came back home, I had to go buy more ice cream bars!  My kids both love them!  I love the fact that they are reduced fat and the size is perfect for snacking.  I would definitely recommend Cadbury to anyone who wants a great tasting, high quality ice cream bar.

Rita's World Famous Punch Recipe

1 Gallon Rainbow Sherbet
1 Gallon Hawaiian Punch
2 Liter Sprite or Ginger Ale

Mix half of everything in a punch bowl.  It will disappear quickly :)

Potato Candy Recipe

Ingredients:
Powdered Sugar
Boiled or baked potato
Peanut butter (any flavor)

Step 1:

Boil or bake a small potato.  Smash it with a fork and mix in powdered sugar until it gets thick.  Shape it into a rectangle on wax paper.

Step 2:

Smear a layer of peanut butter on top.

Step 3:

Roll it up and slice.  Store in refrigerator.

They will never know they are eating potatoes unless you tell them.  Once you do, they'll want to make this all the time because it is so much fun and delicious!  It's a great way to use up left over potatoes too!

Overall, I would definitely recommend PB Crave to any peanut butter lover.  Check out their website or follow them on FacebookPinterest, or Twitter.

Gluten-Free Bread Pudding Recipe & Udi's Bread Review

Udi's is the #1 gluten-free company in America.  Their mission is to provide you with the best gluten-free food on the planet.  They create delicious products that will fill your stomach and warm your soul. The flavor and texture of Udi’s Gluten Free breads, buns, bagels, muffins, cookies and granolas are so good their fans have been known to cry with joy!

My Review

Udi's recently sent me six packages of their bread products and three free product coupons to use however I wish.  I received the following...

I used my coupons on my addiction...Udi's Blueberry Oat & Chocolate Chia Muffin Tops.

I buy alot of gluten-free foods because my son has allergies to so many foods but I could not get him to touch any of these breads.  They were so dry.  I'm not sure if it was because of the shipping time or if they are just made that way.  The buns were soft and everyone liked them.  We had my husband's famous barbecued cheeseburgers one night and they were a hit!   Since the breads were too dry and nobody wanted to try the odd flavors,  I decided to trick them by making my world famous bread pudding recipe that is a favorite at our house.  Nobody knew the difference except they thought I used wheat bread.  They still loved it.  Here is my recipe...

Gluten Free Bread Pudding

Ingredients:
2 eggs
2 c. milk
1 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
7 torn up pieces of Udi's bread (any kind)
Cinnamon

Spray a medium casserole dish and mix everything right in the pan.  Sprinkle cinnamon on top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until lightly brown.

To be honest, this is the only way I would eat the breads, personally.  I love all of Udi's muffins, cookies, granola, and other products.  My thoughts may differ from yours.  Please check out the website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Google+.  Also, check out their Facebook page for lots of recipes!

25 Days of Christmas Blogshare - Dec. 12 Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe

Welcome to the 25 Days of Christmas Blogshare, hosted by Pargas's Junkyard!  Can you believe it's that time of year already?  My Christmas shopping is almost done and I am ready to get started on making all of my goodie baskets to give to my closet friends.  This has been a tradition since I was a little girl.  I have always made tons of Christmas candy with my dad since my mom does not live close to me.  My absolute favorite recipe is her Peanut Butter Fudge.  It is a huge hit and I get lots of requests for it.  Here is the recipe....

3 c. sugar
1 c. evaporated milk
3/4 stick butter
2 c. peanut butter
1 pint marshmallow cream

Bring first 3 ingredients to boil on medium.  Boil 5 minutes.  Remove from heat.  Add other 2 items.  Pour into sprayed or buttered pan.  *Note-Do not make this recipe when the humidity is high (raining or snowing) or it will not set up well.

You can add a decorative touch to these by adding a Hershey's kiss or a pecan to each piece.  Be creative!  I guarantee they will please any fudge lover!
